Intellectual property and the transition period
The UK IPO have issued new guidance on intellectual property during the Brexit transition period. The list of IP rights covered by the guidance is comprehensive, but we'd like to take this opportunity of reminding our clients about the following with respect to European patents and the European Patent Office (EPO):
"As the EPO is not an EU agency, leaving the EU does not affect the current European patent system. Existing European patents covering the UK are also unaffected. European patent attorneys based in the UK continue to be able to represent applicants before the EPO".
